Developer says 'Homes on Martin' project will take 24–36 months as crews address construction flaws

During the public-comment period on July 15, attorney Matthew Sweeney said his clients recently purchased the stalled Homes on Martin development and are assessing significant construction problems. Sweeney said his clients have removed the tower crane, stabilized the site and found “pretty dramatic … concrete failures which need to be addressed.” He told council: "It's going to be 24 to 36 months. That's just all there is to it." Sweeney said the buyers did extensive due diligence, have worked with city staff and chose to proceed in Lacey despite the project’s complexity because of staff professionalism and the city’s business environment. Sweeney said the site’s proximity to the street and constrained setbacks make construction and staging difficult and that the developer is reaching out to adjoining neighbors with schedules and a point of contact. He asked residents to contact the developer directly first for construction concerns and said the team intends to work closely with city staff as the project proceeds.
