The Advisory Committee appointed Eric Glaser as its representative to the town's PreK-8 school building committee by roll-call vote. Committee members discussed the 60-day timeline for the building committee's work, which appears to have been extended into September, and emphasized that the advisory representative's primary function is to act as a liaison and report back to the advisory committee rather than to perform all technical analysis.
Eric said he followed the school project closely and would take on the liaison role as long as expectations were clear and he did not have to perform heavy quantitative analysis himself. "If it's more of, hey, you listen into the meetings and provide input and guidance while they do the work, that's probably more manageable," he said. Other members offered to assist with spreadsheet work or analysis and noted the committee could hire outside analysts if necessary.
The appointment included an explicit discussion of responsibilities: members said the advisory rep should bring meeting updates to the advisory committee and that the advisory committee retains authority to perform its own analysis and make a recommendation to Town Meeting. The committee noted the representative could rely on support from other advisory members and town staff and could resign if the workload proved too great.
The motion to nominate Eric passed by roll call. Members additionally said they would provide support for the representative when Select Board meeting conflicts or other scheduling issues arise.
