Kyle, the town's economic development representative, told the council on July 14 that the Main Street roundabout project is progressing and that the team had approved the final contract they needed to finish the work. Over the next two weeks crews will install pre‑cast radius forms, limestone veneer foundations, rebar, concrete footers and walls and begin installing dimensional wall components.
Kyle said the town is finalizing approval for illuminated perforated metal panels that will surround the roundabout. For the broader Main Street project, Keeser Consulting Group is capturing existing‑conditions video and photographic surveys and transitioning from topographical survey work to preliminary design. Kyle said the video record will provide baseline evidence in case damage occurs during construction and will support stakeholder communication and future design.
Councilors asked whether the survey work and design review would look at previous failures (such as brick and expansion joint issues). Kyle said the team would review materials and durability questions and will examine how previous bricks and joints performed when preparing the new specifications. The SRC (staff review committee) also approved IMS use of Plaza on Main for the Holler Parade as part of earlier coordination.
