Council dedicates bridge rights of way to Boone County following bridge replacements

The structures — Bridge 316 (Elmwood Drive over Small Reynolds Ditch) and Bridge 317 (Witt Road bridge over the same waterway) — were rebuilt or expanded to exceed 20 feet so they fall under county maintenance responsibilities under state code.
Kevin said the dedications involve small parcels (for example, about 0.15 acres associated with Bridge 317) that convey the right-of-way governing the bridge structure to the county. He said the county maintains bridges over 20 feet and has a bridge fund funded in part by state allocations, so transferring these bridge parcels aligns with the original agreement and local practice.
Rob, reading the resolution language on behalf of the city, said the council determined the transfer of the parcels to the Boone County Board of Commissioners for nominal consideration is in the city’s interest. A motion and second were recorded and the council voted "aye"; the resolution passed. The mayor and clerk treasurer were authorized to execute deed documents and any other instruments necessary to complete the conveyance once the county has adopted a substantially identical resolution.
