The Connecticut Nursing Board approved two consent orders at its meeting. Collins Ihuna (petition number 2024-1520): Department attorney said Ihuna, licensed in New York, was subject to reciprocal discipline after allegations she failed to properly document catheterizations; the respondent failed to report the out-of-state discipline to Connecticut within the statutory 30-day period (Conn. Gen. Stat. 19a-12(b)). The proposed consent order applied a reprimand for both the reciprocal discipline and the failure to report. The board voted to approve the reprimand. Jasmine M. Lodge (petition number 2024-939): The department presented a proposed consent order based on an incident at a day camp in June 2024 where the nurse failed to administer three scheduled doses of a seizure medication for a camper, which preceded a reported seizure. The proposed order included a reprimand, a six-month probation during which the nurse must complete coursework on critical thinking, and a civil penalty. The board voted to approve the consent order as presented. Board procedure: Each consent order was presented by department counsel, moved, seconded and approved by roll-call votes. The board recorded that these orders included reprimand language and, in Lodge's case, probation and coursework completion requirements. Why this matters: The orders reflect board oversight of practice standards, with a reprimand for reporting failures and an order seeking remediation and monitoring where missed medication administration led to a safety incident. Speakers from the meeting who presented or voted on these orders are listed in the speakers section below.
