Council accepts North 11th Street sidewalk project after scope increase to use HEERF exchange funds

The Show Low City Council voted unanimously to accept completion of the North Eleventh Street sidewalk improvement project (City project R2025) and to approve a scope revision that added pavement for two through lanes using state HEERF exchange funds.
Staff told the council that the city entered into an agreement with the Arizona Department of Transportation to exchange federal STBG funds for state HEERF funds, which reduced federal administrative requirements. The total grant funding for the project was $555,300. The original project scope reconstructed the east side of North 11th Street from East Cooley to East Tuning with ADA-compliant sidewalks, ramps, parking, concrete pavers, conduit sleeves, drainage, repaved asphalt and pavement markings. After bids came in below the grant amount, staff used $123,575 of the remaining funds to add the two through lanes to the project. The final construction cost was $541,627.75.
Councilmember Whipple moved to accept the work, approve the $123,575 scope revision and release final payment to the contractor; the motion passed unanimously. Staff also initiated the two-year warranty period for the work.
