Show Low council approves updated airport rates, adds hangar lease form and holdover fee

The Show Low City Council voted unanimously to rescind Resolution R2018-07 and approve revised rates and charges for Show Low Regional Airport, and it approved changes to the city’s standard contract policies to add a commercial city-owned hangar lease and to introduce a holdover fee for commercial ground leases.

City staff said the Aviation Advisory Committee reviewed and recommended the changes, including a proposed holdover fee equal to two times the monthly rent for tenants who fail to vacate premises after lease expiration. Staff said the revised airport fee schedule was posted on the city website for 60 days as required by Arizona law (ARS §9‑499.15). Examples given by staff included increasing a nightly parking fee for a single-engine aircraft from $7 to $10 and a monthly parking charge from $40 to $50.

Council also approved a separate resolution adopting the holdover fee after the Aviation Advisory Committee recommended a two-times-monthly-rent rate and after staff posted notice for 60 days. Councilmembers said the intent is to ensure timely vacation of leased premises and avoid repeat incidents of tenants remaining on airport property after lease termination. All motions passed unanimously.

Staff said the changes will help the airport cover operation and maintenance costs and align lease documents with recent incidents and committee recommendations. The council approved rescission of R2018-07, adoption of revised fees (Resolution R2025-27), addition of the city-owned hangar lease form and contract changes (Resolution R2025-28), and separate adoption of a holdover fee (Resolution R2025-26).
