Garden Club’s annual house-tour temporary signs approved by HDC advisory committee

The Historic District Commission’s Sign Advisory Committee approved temporary signs for the Nantucket Garden Club’s 69th annual house tour on July 15, allowing nine property banners and temporary bus-stop directional signs where the club had requested them.
Debbie Thomas spoke for the Nantucket Garden Club and described the event plan, noting nine banners on private properties and two temporary bus-stop signs to guide shuttles. “This is our 69th annual house tour,” Thomas said, and she told the committee the signs would be placed on private property and removed after the six-hour event.
Committee members noted the group has used the approach in prior years and had previously received waivers for application fees as a nonprofit; members moved and approved the application without conditions beyond standard temporary-sign limitations.
Next steps: organizers will place and remove the banners and bus-stop signs on the event day as described and comply with any conditions in the HDC file.
