Allegany County committee accepts $103,600 in additional state funds for Office for the Aging

The Allegany County Ways and Means Committee on June 25 approved a resolution to accept $103,600 in additional New York State unmet needs grant funding for the county Office for the Aging.
Director of the Office for the Aging Anita Bannison told the committee that the county budgeted $553,753 for the unmet needs grant in 2024 but will receive $657,353 in state funding in 2025 because of carryover funds. "So I will, move that we accept that additional $103,600," Bannison said.
The motion was seconded by Legislator Demick and carried on a voice vote. The resolution authorizes the county to finalize revenue from the grant and adjust the Office for the Aging budget accordingly.
The action is limited to accepting the additional state funds; no changes to program eligibility or services were described at the committee meeting.
Committee recording shows the audit had been previously distributed to members and the accepted funds will be incorporated into the county’s 2025 fiscal-year accounts.
