Staff said cape-seal work across the county is about 50% complete, with everything south of the river finished and work north of the river expected to wrap in about a month, weather permitting. County Highway 3330 at East Eleventh is nearing completion and will open once shaping and seeding are finished; the Leland bridge abutments are poured and beams set, with deck work ongoing and completion expected before school starts. "They're working on forming a deck on that, and that should be completed still before school starts," the staff member said.
Staff also said striping and rumble-shoulder installation will follow shoulder gravel work on newly cape-sealed routes, that micro surfacing and resurfacing work are in progress, and that contractors are scheduled to begin seal-coat work shortly depending on weather.
On staffing, the department has two full-time maintainer positions posted and said the county is also open to hiring temporary winter help if needed. "Right now, it's $24.29. It'd be higher if the union contract was settled, but that's not settled yet. So right now, starting wages $24.29, and it must have a CDL class a," the staff member said. The clerk confirmed full-time postings are active.
The meeting concluded with routine administrative items and an adjournment motion. No separate board action was taken on staffing beyond authorization to advertise positions.
