School board approves 2025-26 budget

The school board approved the 2025–26 budget in a roll-call vote during its regular meeting, the board said. Board members voted aye to adopt the budget as of today. The budget vote was introduced during the business portion of the agenda and presented by district staff. Board members asked clarifying questions before the motion to adopt was called and seconded. Approval matters because the adopted budget sets district spending levels for the upcoming school year, affecting staffing, programs and operations across elementary, middle and high schools. Board members recorded their votes by roll call. The board chair called the question and members including Doctor Nancy Williamson, Dorothy Watson, Doctor Danny Cross, Mark Matthews and Kevin Byrd voted in the affirmative; the motion carried. District staff indicated the budget reflects current assumptions as of the meeting and that further adjustments will be brought back if circumstances change. The board moved on to other agenda items after the vote. Any formal budget adoption documents will be filed with the district offices and made available per routine practice.
