Christine Hassell, project manager for the Chattahoochee program at Trust for Public Land, told the committee the nonprofit has a long history of park and riverfront work in Atlanta, including land assembly for the MLK National Historical Park and work on the BeltLine. She said the donation would support advance planning and conceptual design for the Riverlands trail segment and the Chattahoochee Brick Company Memorial Park and green space.
Hassell cited TPL’s prior local work — from historic Fourth Ward Park to school‑yard transformations — and said the Riverlands study envisions connecting 20 cities and seven counties along a continuous public realm. Committee members voted 6–0 to approve the resolution (25‑R‑3661) authorizing the mayor to accept the donation.
