The request mirrors the amount the group sought last year; Hausman said the county approved half of the request last year and the nonprofit covered the remainder with ARPA funds and other fundraising. She told the council the organization raises money by speaking to service groups, selling T‑shirts and running a spring fundraiser, and noted volunteers and repeat participants now serve as chaperones and trip leaders.
Council members asked for the program’s budget and financial statements. Hausman said program leader Tim typically brings the financial statement; she offered to have the updated statement available for the council in August.
