The Spokane City Council amended Resolution 20250052 (council budget priorities) to incorporate edits from Council members Wilkerson, Cathcart and Dillon and then voted to defer final adoption to July 28. Staff member Jacoby Burrows told the council the amended draft shifted many items from requests for information to explicit funding requests and added a specific request for a five‑year reimbursement plan for the Spokane employees’ pension fund.
Burrows said the amended language also called for continued funding at current levels for animal control while the council explores program options, funding for language-access services in accordance with timelines, and support for arts funding through outside contracting at current levels. Council members discussed adding priorities for neighborhood-council funding, capital facilities planning and arts contracting and asked for clarifying language on several points.
After debate about timing and additional possible amendments, the council adopted the immediate amendment to the resolution and then voted to defer final adoption to July 28 to give members time to add items and refine language.
