Council awards up to $2.2M contract to Webb Construction for permanent police evidence facility

The City of Roswell’s committee on July 15 approved awarding a contract to Webb Construction for design and construction of a permanent police evidence facility at the public safety headquarters, with a contract cap of $2,200,000 and a $220,000 construction contingency.
Brian Watson, public works director, told the committee the project will produce a 10,500-square-foot multiuse facility on the northern portion of the new public safety headquarters at 1080 Holcomb Bridge Road. Watson said the building will include permanent evidence storage, a motor barn and a CrossFit gym for public safety staff, and that the contract covers both building design and construction.
Watson said design work “actually already started” and gave an expected construction completion timeline: “the construction would be completed by the end of the year.” Committee members also discussed the logistical effort of relocating current evidence holdings from the facility across the street to the new building.
The committee voted to award the contract (motion by Councilmember Gee Lee Hills; second by Councilmember Visa). The motion passed unanimously. Watson said staff also recommends a $220,000 contingency to cover unforeseen circumstances during construction.
