Summary
The board approved revised handbooks for activities, nutrition services and transportation, and adopted revisions to staff selection and homeschooling policies after committee and WSBA review.
Trustees approved several policy and handbook updates covering activities, nutrition services, transportation and staff selection. Activities director Tony Bierdsley presented two handbooks for 2025-26: a student/parent participant handbook and a coaches/sponsors handbook. He said the student handbook now includes the Title IX statement and a student campus firearms policy consistent with school handbooks; the coaches handbook emphasizes that coaches must ensure physical forms and online registrations are complete before participation and to avoid taxes on meal and hotel receipts. The board approved both activity handbooks. Nutrition services director Leah Kennison said the nutrition handbook's only substantive addition was a Title IX statement; trustees approved the handbook. Transportation staff revised their handbook to reflect updated job titles and department culture; trustees approved the transportation handbook. On policy readings, trustees approved revisions to GCI and GDI (staff selection, assignments and transfers) on final reading after super 8 committee review. The board also approved a revision to homeschooling policy IGBD on second reading; district staff said the Wyoming School Boards Association executive director reviewed the policy and confirmed it aligns with state statute. Board members stressed coaches' responsibilities for registration, physicals and tax-exempt purchasing procedures and thanked staff for handbook updates. All motions passed on voice votes.
