The policy requires staff or volunteers who intend to carry to provide written notification to the superintendent. The district worked with the Green River Police Department and Chief Sturlickson to set instructor standards; the board accepted a recommendation that firearm instructors have at least two years of instructor experience and have conducted active training within the last year. The district and trustees emphasized the policy will be monitored and may be revised as statewide policies and local practice evolve. The board approved the policy on its final reading after discussion at the super 8 committee and consultation with local law enforcement. The motion carried on a voice vote.
