Trustees approve bid process for FFA fencing and approve quitclaim deed for adjacent property

Trustees authorized staff to solicit bids for a six-foot chain-link fence around recently acquired property intended for the district's FFA program, and later approved a quitclaim deed to finalize an adjacent property transfer. Facilities director Doug told the board the district acquired a parcel from the city for FFA purposes and cleared the land; staff requested authorization to go out for bids on roughly 1,500 feet of six-foot chain-link fencing. Trustees approved the request after confirming initial quotes exceeded the district's bid limit and therefore a public bid process was required. Separately, board members discussed a quitclaim deed for a different parcel adjacent to the high school. During discussion some trustees said the parcel appeared to have been donated in prior similar transactions; board members and staff sought clarity on the purchase price. A motion to approve the quitclaim deed, conditioned on agreement about the purchase price, passed on a voice vote with one board member recorded as opposing. District staff said power will be installed at the FFA site next week. The board directed staff to proceed with the public bid process for fencing and to finalize the deed with agreed terms.
