Broken Arrow board approves two school leaders, appoints Chuck Perry to Southern Regional Education Board

The Broken Arrow Public Schools Board on Monday approved the hires of Mikaela Arthur as principal of Aspen Creek Early Childhood Center and Jason Koller as assistant principal at Oneida Ridge Middle School, and voted to appoint Chuck Perry to the Southern Regional Education Board.

The board voted unanimously to approve Arthur’s hiring after a staff presentation highlighting her 28 years in education and three years serving as an assistant principal at Morrow Elementary in Owasso Public Schools. A presenter said, “With all of her experience, she'll be an excellent fit for Aspen Creek ECC.” The motion to approve Arthur was moved and seconded and carried with Dr. Williams, Debbie Taylor and Mr. Cockrell recording “yes” votes.

In a separate item the board approved the hire of Jason Koller, who the presenter described as having more than 20 years in education, recent experience as an assistant athletic director at Jenks and prior roles that include special-education paraprofessional, history teacher and coach. The board voted to approve Koller for the 2025–26 school year with the same recorded “yes” votes.

The board also approved a motion to appoint Chuck Perry to the Southern Regional Education Board. The board discussed recognizing Perry at a future meeting when he could attend; the appointment motion passed unanimously.

These personnel decisions were presented as individual agenda items and approved by formal motions and roll-call votes. The meeting’s public comment period had no speakers on these items.

Board members who recorded votes on these motions were identified on the roll call as Dr. Williams, Debbie Taylor (deputy board clerk) and Mr. Cockrell. The motions were moved and seconded as recorded in the meeting minutes.
