Superintendent Jill described conversations with Board Member Peter Turk and district staff about whether to engage a commercial broker through an RFP or to market the Lyons property directly. She said the district had received expressions of interest and that, for an initial round, staff recommended attempting a direct sale without a broker to save costs. Jill said the district holds an appraisal but prefers to solicit offers before publicizing the appraisal value.
Jill also said staff discovered a separate parcel—donated to the district in 2010 and not contiguous with Lyons Elementary—located south of Lyons on Mill Street. She described the parcel as roughly a 1‑acre lot that looks like a narrow space between two houses with driveway access and noted it is not connected to the Lyons school parcel; she recommended the district entertain selling it because the district has no practical use for it. Board members asked Jill to circulate a map and deed information; Jill said she would email a plotted map showing both parcels and that staff would follow up.
No motion or formal decision to list or sell either property was made at the meeting; board members requested more documentation and for staff to continue outreach to potential buyers. Jill and staff indicated the district already has an appraisal for Lyons and that deed paperwork for the off‑site parcel is being retrieved.
