The Village of Roselle board on July 14 approved several zoning and land-use requests, including special uses and zoning variations for properties in the village. Trustees passed an ordinance granting a special use for 101 Pickton Road and another granting a special use for 1291 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, the latter to permit a miniature golf use on an upper floor. The board also approved zoning variations for 15 West Granville Avenue and for 5 Terry Drive, Unit B. Board discussion on 5 Terry Drive noted there had been one dissenting vote at the earlier zoning review, cited by a trustee as stemming from aesthetic concerns about parking visible from the street because the property is a corner lot. The owner of the Terry Drive unit indicated she cannot use an on-site garage for storage and has proposed landscaping to screen the parking area from view; trustees recorded no further objections at the meeting and approved the variation. All motions were approved by roll call. For several items the board briefly confirmed procedural matters and then moved to recorded roll-call votes; the transcript records the voting turns as “Aye” and that each motion carried. The meeting record does not supply the full roll-call tally by individual trustee names for each motion in every instance. These approvals were presented and decided during the development and engineering services portion of the agenda. The board did not attach additional conditions or implementation timelines on the public record at the time of approval beyond the variation and special-use language incorporated into the ordinances. The village attorney and planning staff were present during the item but did not provide extended public testimony during the recorded discussion.
