The Policy Subcommittee approved its FY26 meeting calendar and agreed on several administrative steps to streamline policy review. The calendar sets two meetings per month: a first meeting (Tuesdays at 9 a.m.) dedicated to the five-year policy review cycle and a second meeting each month for ad hoc policy changes driven by legal updates or district needs.
Subcommittee members said holding two meetings each month avoids ad-hoc policy work crowding out the five-year review cycle. The subcommittee approved continuing the structure in which Lisa Bloom leads the five-year reviews and the chair leads the ad hoc policy meetings.
The chair said she is preparing two administrative tools: (1) a policy-review request form staff can use to submit proposed policy changes in a centralized way rather than by individual emails, and (2) an Excel spreadsheet to track policy status and scheduling. The subcommittee agreed that staff will finalize those tools, and the chair said she will bring drafts to the next meeting. The subcommittee also noted an outstanding five-year review backlog and agreed to coordinate which policies will be reviewed next.
The subcommittee scheduled the next meeting for July 22 and asked staff to prepare the ADDA (background checks), JLCB (immunization) and IKF/IKFA drafts for that date.
