Public works reports GEMA reimbursement; new station credited with saving cardiac arrest patient

Public Works Director (unnamed) said the county received a GEMA reimbursement (road grading recovery from the Aug. 2023 storm, referenced as Adalia) for $493,538.10 and that additional reimbursements remain pending as the county continues to document recovery costs and coordinate with FEMA and GEMA.
EMS Director Bridal Hendricks reported that Bullock County Fire Department Station 9 in the Cleito area began operations in June and that station personnel responded to a sudden cardiac arrest on Monday. Hendricks said Station 9 arrived “within, like, a minute and a half of the call,” began CPR immediately and that “on Friday afternoon the gentleman was wheeled out of East Georgia,” indicating the patient survived to hospital discharge transport.
Commissioners and staff commended the teams; subsequent discussion clarified which units were first on scene and noted ongoing renovation of another station (Stilton) and that Station 9’s rapid response demonstrated the impact of the service expansion.
