A staff member said the purchase amount appears in the agenda as $1,379,402. Commissioners asked where the money would come from; staff responded that the 2019 SPLOST public safety category has $1,500,000 allocated for fire engine purchases this fiscal year. The county noted the quicker availability of stock units comes with fewer customization options.
A motion to approve the purchase was made, seconded and passed by the board. Staff indicated the engines could be delivered by Sept. 1 if the purchase proceeds as described.
