TULLAHOMA, Tenn. — City staff told the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on July 14 that fall paving is scheduled to begin in September or October, and they outlined specific road projects and timing constraints tied to utility work. The City Administrator (unnamed) said the city’s contractor is currently engaged on state work and will return in the fall to perform heavier paving projects. Public works will continue patching and smaller paving tasks until the contractor is available. Kings Lane and Country Club projects are progressing but cannot be completed until a utility pole owned by TUA and carrying AT&T and Charter lines is relocated; staff reported a 6–8 week estimate for AT&T to complete relocation work, after which final removal and paving can proceed. Board members asked about striping and lane markings; staff said Anderson Street, between City Hall and Jackson Street, is on the fall paving schedule and that striping will be included with those projects. The mayor and staff said the city had set aside roughly $50,000 previously for striping work and that thermoplastic markings had recently been placed at locations such as Cedar Lane (near Tractor Supply). On the state-managed TDOT project at Wilson Avenue and Cedar Lane, staff said TDOT remained on schedule and that Big Springs was expected to open to school traffic around July 31 to coincide with school access; staff also noted that TDOT project schedules can vary and the agency controls that timeline. The board requested continued updates as contractors and utilities finish coordination.
