Capital projects update: parking lot, paving, gym bleacher work and CTE access work continue

Coffee County’s facilities director updated the board July 14 on multiple capital projects underway across the district, reporting completion of several items and outlining timelines for others. The director said Deerfield Elementary’s parking-lot paving is finished and that new furniture for the board meeting room and high-school offices had been installed. Countertops and other science-classroom finishes were completed at the high school. At the CTE building and other schools, window-laminate work is nearly finished and some vinyl siding work remains. Door-access hardware installations at East Coffee High School, Hillsborough and New Union are complete and were described as improving security for gyms and cafeterias. CTE sidewalk repairs and additions are finished and linked to paving work; the director described high-school paving as nearly complete but said contractors are re-pouring several concrete stoops damaged by rollers before final paving can be completed. He described the overall paving outcome as “very nice” and said drainage work is functioning. The director said gym bleacher modifications will occur after homecoming to avoid disrupting events; the contractor estimated three to four weeks for the bleacher work and will coordinate with athletics so volleyball and tournaments can continue. He also reported that the engineering drawings for athletic-field lighting remain delayed and he has followed up with the engineering firm. Work on the TCAT college building and other miscellaneous projects were also described as proceeding. Board members thanked facilities staff and asked for continued coordination to minimize disruptions to athletics and activities as projects proceed.
