The Colonial Heights School Board received an update on facilities projects during its May 27 meeting: completion of an electrical switch gear upgrade at Colonial Heights High School, upcoming HVAC work and a planned study of the high school cafeteria and dining area.
Office of Business Services staff said the electrical switch gear upgrade is part of the larger renovation and could require shutting the power at the high school for possibly three weeks (the presenters said they hope it will be shorter). During that period, administrators have coordinated student use of alternate spaces, including the tech building, to maintain services. The division will also move forward with HVAC work and has authorized a study to examine cafeteria and dining‑area improvements; staff said options and cost information will be presented to the board in the coming months.
Acting maintenance leadership and the high school principal were identified as coordinating the projects; board members received the report as information and did not take formal action at the meeting.
