The Colonial Heights School Board voted to adopt the recommended K–12 textbook list aligned to the state’s new standards and approved the annual special-education plan that sets how federal IDEA funds will be allocated. A staff presenter said the division convened lead teachers and community members to review textbook options aligned with new standards; the presenter said the state did not issue an approved list this year, and the committee selected materials it judged most aligned to the standards. On the special-education annual plan (IDEA Part B), staff presented funding allocations and uses. The presenter said Part B funding saw a slight increase and described personnel salaries and benefits, purchase services such as the preschool inclusive program (Wesley), and other allocations. Board members moved and seconded approval, and votes were recorded in favor.
