Board approves purchase of Patricia Boulevard property to create swing space and repurpose current BOE offices

Bailey said the building is roughly 8,200 square feet and could house most of the central office; vacating the district's current board office would recapture an estimated five to six classrooms.
Bailey summarized the district’s recent master‑planning work with SHP (the architecture firm chosen in a prior RFQ), described short‑ and long‑term planning steps and presented construction and renovation cost estimates. SHP provided a renovation estimate of about $1.3 million to convert the Patricia Boulevard property for district use, while new construction of an equivalent standalone office was estimated at roughly $4 million. Adding five classrooms as new construction was estimated at about $3+ million, according to the materials Bailey summarized.
Bailey said the board would be asked in the financial section to approve a resolution to purchase the Patricia Boulevard property and to authorize issuing an RFQ for architecture and engineering design services (A/E and AME) to support design and construction. He presented an estimated timeline that would design, bid and build the administrative office with a goal of April completion and run a parallel renovation process on the current board office so classrooms would be available for the 2026–27 school year.
Board members discussed preserving an administrative presence on campus during construction, the importance of community engagement for any future ballot measures and the need to identify swing space for unpredictable enrollment shifts. Trustees reiterated a prior preference to minimize use of modular classrooms and to seek community locations to relocate central‑office functions.
The board voted to approve the purchase resolution and to authorize solicitation of an RFQ for architecture and engineering. The resolution to approve the real estate purchase and sale agreement passed on a roll‑call vote. The subsequent RFQ authorization also passed by roll call.
Bailey and staff said the district will present more detailed designs and engage the community through SHP and the facilities committee as the project advances.
