12‑year‑old 4‑H member describes community projects, invites commissioners to Extension open house

Edison Zach, a rising seventh grader at River Springs Middle School and member of Wakulla 4‑H, addressed the Board during citizens to be heard to describe activities and leadership opportunities provided by 4‑H in the county. Zach told commissioners the group—Future Leaders of Wakulla (FLOW)—has organized a hygiene drive, a bubble fun run for kids, roadside cleanups and a youth safe‑space dance. He said those activities helped him build leadership skills and that he hopes to mentor younger 4‑H members. Zach invited the board and public to the Extension office open house on Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., which he said will include garden tours, demonstrations, club leader meet‑and‑greets, games, food trucks and live music. Why it matters: Youth civic engagement and volunteer programs are community assets; the presentation served to inform commissioners and the public about programs, events and volunteer opportunities.
