The board reviewed updates to Policy 414 (mandated reporting of child neglect or physical abuse) and Policy 415 (mandated reporting for vulnerable adults) at the July 14 meeting. Administrators said the changes were primarily stylistic and intended to align the district's documents with the MSBA model and the district style guide.
Administration recommended removing the requirement for an annual review of these policies from Policy 208's annual schedule because Minnesota statute and MSBA do not require yearly review for these policies. Administrators noted that the policies include practical reporting details, such as local contact information for Hennepin County Child Protection Services, to make it easier for mandated reporters to act.
Board members asked clarifying questions about numbering and citation placement; administrators said the edits were non-substantive and that the policies reflect current practice. No substantive changes to mandated-reporting responsibilities were proposed.
