County sets preliminary $214 residential rate for annual solid‑waste assessment; public hearing set for Sept. 15

Wakulla County staff presented a preliminary rate resolution for the annual residential solid‑waste collection and disposal assessment and asked the board to set the proposed rate and a public hearing. Staff said the resolution establishes the solid‑waste cost and proposes a residential assessment of $214 per dwelling unit for the coming year, directs preparation of an updated assessment roll, includes a hardship program and sets a public hearing for Sept. 15. The presenter told commissioners that, like TRIM notices, the statutorily required notice will be provided and that rates can be reduced at the public hearing but not increased from the preliminary figure. The board moved, seconded and approved the preliminary resolution by recorded vote 5–0. The public hearing was scheduled for Sept. 15 and staff was directed to provide the legally required notices.
