Board approves purchase of 10 new school buses and fleet vehicles, plus GPS renewal

The board authorized purchase of 10 school buses from Holt Truck Centers for $1,607,926 from transportation bond funds. District staff said purchasing through the state contract and a Tulsa-based plant offers advantages for warranty and local service; older buses will be repurposed to the substitute fleet or surplus as route buses are replaced.
Separately, the board approved two Chevrolet Tahoes for $131,256 from transportation bond funds, two Chevrolet Suburbans and one Chevrolet Express van totaling $162,937 from bond funds, and a Zonar Systems Inc. two-year renewal for GPS tracking and pre/post-trip inspections for district vehicles in the amount of $117,637.35 from bond funds. Presenters said the Zonar system supports inspections, fleet diagnostics and work-order integration.
Board members voted to approve the purchases; presenters said replacement policy will move aging vehicles to surplus as new units are placed on routes.
