Resident asks city to address overgrown grass and roadside nuisance on North Main Street

During the citizens' participation portion of the meeting, resident Mark Stiles of 207 East Wilson Street asked the council to address two overgrown roadside areas on North Main Street that he said create insect and animal nuisance concerns and present an unattractive gateway to the city. Stiles showed council photographs and said one location is just north of the elementary school where grass had grown about two feet taller than a trash can, and the second location is north of Lapis, which he believes is within city limits based on signage. He asked the city to take care of the maintenance. Council asked staff if public works could verify the locations and whether they fall inside the city limits and whether property owner or city is responsible. The mayor responded that public works would take a look and verify responsibility; no formal council action or vote was taken. The matter was recorded as a request for staff follow-up. Council did not receive other citizens' participation speakers that evening.
