Alexander County commissioners unanimously approved an 11-item consent agenda that included tax abatements and adjustments of $1,210.99 and tax refunds of $1,509.95 for the period cited, acceptance of minutes from May 19 and June 2 meetings, and two board appointments: Todd Rauscher as tax collector for a three-year term and Commissioner Larry Yoder as the NCC Annual Conference voting delegate. County Attorney Ben Falconberry described an agreement to ratify with "Bridal 24 Incorporated" for CodeRED emergency alerts as a substitution for a previously used vendor based on citizen input and staff recommendation.
The consent agenda also included the annual bonding resolution for officials who handle county funds, the DSS Energy Programs Outreach Plan for FY2025–26, a Home and Community Care Block Grant award ($308,060) with a local match ($34,229) for aging services (totaling $342,289), a lease renewal for the county economic development office on Highway 16 North, an updated performance-evaluation policy and nonprofit funding contracts with five local partners: Alexander County Partnership for Children, Alexander County Habitat for Humanity, Studio 3 NC, Bridal Community (as listed in agenda), and Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center. The sheriff requested authorization to surplus a Glock 45 9mm to Lieutenant Buddy McKinney upon his retirement in August 2025; that item was included and approved on the consent agenda.
All consent-agenda items were adopted by unanimous vote.
