“Most of it is in the northern part of the River Edge neighborhood,” Mr. Amir, city staff, said, explaining the streets selected have worse pavement and a higher number of water-main breaks. Council members said the condition data justified replacing mains and resurfacing the roads rather than repeated spot repairs.
Alderman Bailey moved to approve the agreement and Alderman Gellhardt seconded. The council approved the design contract by voice vote.
The packet lists a design fee not to exceed $215,500; staff said the project list is primarily in River Edge and that other streets may warrant future work. No construction contract was awarded at this meeting; the action authorized design work for next year’s construction program.
Staff will return with final design documents and a construction budget recommendation for council approval at a later meeting.
