District tax office turned over 2.35% of levy to collection firm; trustees receive collections update

Trustees were shown pie charts that break turnover into case statuses (litigation, suits filed, ready for tax sale, etc.) and by dollar ranges to help the firm target its collection work. Historic collection trends supplied to trustees showed collections for older tax years improving over time: for example, the presenter reported that the 2020 tax year showed about 85% collected and 2023 collections were more than 54% collected so far, with 2023 turnover only occurring the previous July.
Board members asked about the largest outstanding amounts and the firm’s historic recovery performance; the presenter said the office prioritizes larger delinquencies to maximize recovery for the district. Trustees did not take formal action on the report; the presentation was informational.
