The Lewisville City Council appointed seven steering-committee chairs for the Lewisville 2035 comprehensive-plan process, approved the full slate of applicants for the broader steering committee and extended the application window two weeks to July 18. The council's motion also directed staff to solicit additional applicants during the extension period and asked committee chairs to name co-chairs from among interested applicants.
City staff said 98 people applied to serve on the steering committee and that staff received more names after the deadline. Councilmembers discussed the mix of candidates and emphasized diversity of experience and community representation when selecting chairpersons. Council selected Brandon Jones, Angela Lewallen, Joshua Chanin, John Tidwell, Jen Marville, Adrian Doko and David Margulies as the seven committee chairs and approved appointment of all current applicants; the council vote was unanimous.
Staff described the steering committee's role: attend public meetings, serve on subcommittees, represent diverse perspectives and help promote the planning outreach during the 18-month plan-development process. The council asked chairs to recruit co-chairs within each committee and scheduled staff to return with details on committee structure and public engagement steps.
