Council accepts $10,000 anonymous donation for new White Park inclusive playground

The Concord City Council on July 14 accepted an anonymous $10,000 donation toward construction of a new inclusive playground at White Park, part of a broader fundraising campaign to close a $60,000 shortfall on the project. City staff reported that final quotes for the inclusive playground exceeded initial appropriations by about $60,000; since early April, park staff, Friends of White Park, the mayor and councilors have been fundraising to cover the gap. The $10,000 donation accepted by council was offered anonymously; the council and staff thanked the donor and the community partners working on the campaign. Councilor Horn asked whether the donor wished to be listed; staff replied the donor requested anonymity. The council approved the resolution accepting the donation and appropriating the funds for the playground by the votes required for acceptance of gifts.
