Council authorizes one‑year lease amendment to allow limited parking for Sun Fox Farm festival

Councilor Brown said the festival drew about 12,000 visitors in its first year and noted broad community and marketing benefits. Because the festival is proposed to start in less than a month, staff recommended taking the item up on a suspense calendar; the council suspended the rules and approved the amendment after discussion. The conservation commission recommended a limited, time‑bound amendment with conditions to protect the agricultural use and soil; councilors and staff emphasized the lease change would be an attachment limited to the current year, and the commission intends to revisit it next year. City staff said the amendment will include parameters, require the organizer to obtain appropriate permits and record any site impacts for later review. Councilors also asked staff to monitor soil impacts and public‑safety egress, and to ensure that the event continues to comply with conservation and agricultural protections. The council adopted the amendment in open session.
