Committee presses staff on park maintenance, SeeClickFix follow‑up and cell tower installations

Committee members used the July 15, 2025 meeting to press for clearer maintenance schedules, better SeeClickFix follow‑up and information about recent cell‑tower installations and the closed jetty. Staff explained how SeeClickFix reports route into the city's operations workflow: requests are routed to the operations manager for the department identified in the report, who then creates an internal work order for field crews; once crews complete work, the operations manager closes the work order which closes the SeeClickFix request. "Because of the shift in responsibilities and the change in personnel moving from 1 department to another, we are retraining everybody on the internal work order system," staff said, and recommended signage or QR codes in parks to improve public reporting. Committee members described uneven maintenance across parks, praising recent work at Moran Park and asking how the same attention could be extended to other named parks (McKinney, Vena, Hern, Hurley, Lazarillo, Eagan). Staff said the department prioritized Heran Park (an entryway and heavily used special‑event site) and plans to schedule named parks for irrigation repair and landscaping over the next few years; staff also described reorganizing field crews so teams visit a park together with supervisory oversight to conduct comprehensive checks. On cell towers, staff described state limits on local permitting. "The state really legislates how cell towers may be installed, and local government have essentially been stripped of any local control on on permitting," staff said, adding that telecom firms may co‑locate on existing poles and that some installations are subject to state standards on height and administrative review. Staff urged residents to contact state representatives about zoning and permitting authority. A member asked about the Passagrille jetty; staff said the jetty is closed and that they will follow up with Public Services Director Camden for a status update.
