The Public Affairs Committee agreed to announce at tonight’s council meeting that the third quarterly “convos with council” will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. in the Elbow Room at Chemos Hobbies, a committee member said.
Committee members said the venue was offered by the business management and that the committee wants to try a different location after holding earlier convos in the McLean Room at the library. “They offered the space,” Committee member said.
The committee confirmed the event follows an established cadence — the third month of the quarter on the first Saturday — which places the session on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. A member noted the committee had at one point discussed holding the convos while walking around the reservoir but said that idea was unlikely given summer heat. “We were gonna walk around the reservoir, but I don't know if anybody wants to really walk 2 miles and and talk during that,” Committee member said.
No formal roll-call vote was recorded in the transcript. Committee members agreed to announce the date, time and location at the council meeting and to try the alternate space; one member summarized the plan as “sounds great.”
The decision to test an off-site location follows the committee’s earlier use of the McLean Room, which members said they “really liked.” The committee did not record any additional logistical details in the transcript (for example, capacity limits, accessibility accommodations, or whether the business will provide staff support). The committee moved on to public comment after the scheduling discussion.
The committee chair said they would announce the date and location at tonight’s council meeting.
