City announces summer community events and Pantry Plus location; back-to-school shoe voucher registration ends Wednesday

Council heard a report from the Public Affairs Committee listing community events and outreach items, and a resident clarified details about a local food pantry. The committee finalized plans for the city’s third quarterly “Convos with Council” scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Elbel Room at Kemos Sabes and reviewed several community events over the next two weeks, including the back-to-school shoe voucher registration that closes Wednesday, July 16 at the Fostoria Learning Center (registrants must bring a photo ID and proof of Fostoria residency). The committee also announced a Farmers and Artisans Market titled “Christmas in July” on Thursday, July 17, and listed multiple concerts, festivals and community activities through late July. Resident Deb Tyson said Pantry Plus of Seneca County has moved from downtown to 4481 N. U.S. 23, Fostoria, Ohio, and described Pantry Plus hours and eligibility: the pantry operates Fridays, clients may use it once per month between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., adults need ID, and households with children must provide proof such as a birth certificate or school ID. Tyson also noted Pantry Plus operates a donation time on Wednesdays from 4 to 9 p.m. and provided pamphlets to council. The committee also noted a Sentinel Career Center Red Cross blood drive at the Fostoria Learning Center on Wednesday, July 30 from noon to 6 p.m.
