Francis asked why the standard notice did not mention that an exemption form is available and urged the district to add language or a link to an exemption form so parents know that option exists.
Board members and district staff said the letter is a state‑required notice and that this was the first time the concern had been raised in public. A board member asked the superintendent (or appropriate staff) to review the letter’s wording and consult on the legal considerations. Staff said they would investigate and follow up with the parent.
The parent reiterated a preference for informed consent and requested the district provide an explicit link or line in the notice indicating how to obtain an exemption form. Board members thanked the parent for raising the issue and asked staff to review the matter and report back.
