McCracken County approves jail renovation contracts, sheriff vehicle purchases and surplus declarations

McCracken County fiscal court on July 14 approved several contracts tied to McCracken County Jail renovations, authorized vehicle purchases for the sheriff’s office and declared multiple sheriff vehicles surplus for future auction.
The court awarded the fabrication and installation of showers at the McCracken County Jail to Triangle for $171,041 and approved replacement of sprinklers related to the shower renovation to Effie Moran for $21,500. The court also awarded the removal and replacement of plug outlets in the shower renovation to Beltline Electric for $61,616. These awards were read and approved during the July 14 meeting.
On county vehicle procurement, the court approved the purchase of a 2025 Ford F-150 XL SuperCrew 4x4 for the McCracken County Jail from Gary Yeomans Ford for $45,265 under state contract. Sealed bids for 2024/2025 Dodge Durangos for the McCracken County Sheriff were opened earlier; Landwood Motors was awarded the bid at $38,971 per vehicle. The court also awarded Rapid Response the installation of emergency equipment on the Durangos at $16,800 per vehicle.
The fiscal court declared a list of previously used sheriff vehicles surplus to be sold at a future auction; the clerk read VINs and model years into the record and the court approved returning funds paid with drug forfeiture to the drug funds account where applicable.
All awards and purchases were approved by the fiscal court; the treasurer was authorized to pay invoices related to the contracts and vehicle procurements.
