Board approves FY26 tentative budgets; state funding numbers still pending

The District 205 Board approved tentative FY26 budgets Monday for the district and for Galesburg Area Vocational Center (GAVC), with staff saying final revenue figures from the state were not yet available. Staff told the board the budgets are being presented earlier than usual because board rules require a 30-day public display before final adoption and the board's August meeting schedule left insufficient time. The presenter said evidence-based funding numbers from the state and final Perkins/CTE figures for GAVC were expected in August and that expenses are largely set; staff anticipated revenue-side changes when the state figures arrive. “Those are coming in August from the state. So this is an anticipated budget,” the presenter said, explaining the timetable. The presenter said the district’s expense projections are largely set and additional hires were planned; final revenue adjustments will be reported to the board in August.
