Martin County board introduces six new school leaders and recognizes 34‑year bus driver

Superintendent Maine introduced six recommended administrative hires and the board honored a transportation employee retiring after 34 years of service during the July 15 Martin County School Board meeting.
The superintendent recommended the following hires: Maria Adele Sumner as principal of Warfield Elementary; Dr. Alicia Ramcharan as assistant principal of student services at Martin County High School; Sydney Harden as assistant principal at Palm City Elementary; Danielle Farrell as assistant principal for assessment and accountability at Martin County High School; Erin Albano as assistant principal at Warfield Elementary; and Alcira Gonzalez as assistant principal at Port Salerno Elementary. The superintendent described each candidate’s experience and certifications during the presentation.
The board also recognized Arnett Graham, a school bus driver with 34 years of service. Sharna Blanco, operations manager for the transportation department, said Graham had been "a trusted presence for students, a reassuring voice for families, and a dependable colleague to her peers." Graham said, "I just wanna say thank you, and I'm gonna miss everybody, especially the kids. And maybe I'll come back." The board welcomed the new hires and thanked Graham for her service.
The superintendent presented the recommendations; the transcript records the introductions and the recognition but does not show a separate recorded board vote on each individual hire during the portion of the meeting that contained the presentations. The board previously approved consent items earlier in the meeting.
