Tourism director says $100,000 of innkeepers grant funds awarded; three applications expected in August

Ken Koski, director of tourism, told the Johnson County Council on July 14 that the county has awarded $100,000 of $290,000 available in innkeepers-tax grants and expects to review three additional applications in August. He listed several projects funded or in progress, including the Edinburgh Quick Plaza, the Fifth Avenue Public Plaza and a downtown play area in Bargersville.
Koski said the tourism office expects to commit the full grant pool by the end of the year and that he has been working with the county's CPA firm to reconcile expense-detail discrepancies between the tourism office books and budget categories. He said Angela Coy of Compass Point CPAs is researching a recommended reconciliation and that Koski would supply additional information to the council if requested.
Council member Jonathan Meyers moved approval of the tourism items on the consent agenda; the motion passed by voice vote.
