Board tables renewal of Applied Concept Security contract pending revised agreement

The Middleton School District board voted to table renewal of its Applied Concept Security contract after the vendor did not provide a final contract in time for the meeting; principals provided mostly positive feedback on the security officers’ campus presence and communication.

District staff said they met the vendor’s lead and expected a contract but the vendor had not produced a final document by the meeting; the vendor told staff they would supply the contract for the August board meeting. Principals submitted written reflections praising named officers: Ken (Heights), Reed (Purple Sage) and Carmine (Mill Creek). Comments highlighted officers’ perimeter monitoring, assistance with building traffic and positive interactions with students, staff and families.

Staff reported broadly positive community feedback and said that improvements in communication between the vendor and Mill Creek came after clarifying expectations. The vendor representative told staff there was no anticipated price increase except for explicitly listing event-based additional staffing (e.g., extra officers for large high-school events) in the contract rather than handling those as ad hoc additions. The board voted to table the renewal until the August meeting when the revised contract will be available.
