The City Council approved the purchase of a 2026 Freightliner M2 chassis with a utility body to replace an aging public-works unit.
Public Works Director Jason Warrenfeld told the council the vehicle will cost $125,009.91 and that the acquisition was budgeted in the FY25 capital plan. He said the additional funding needed will come from the water/sewer unassigned fund balance and that the replaced vehicle will be placed into reserve status pending final disposition (auction or other disposal) per fleet policy.
Council voted by voice to authorize the purchase and to proceed with the cooperative bid source identified by staff. The director said the unit is expected in November and that staff will finalize disposition of the replaced vehicle at that time.
